Case Study
How Association Uses Municipal Information to Advocate for Members & Partner with Community

Challenge

With municipalities increasingly advancing policies at the local and state level that threaten the ability of REALTORS® to make a living and homeowners’ ability to buy or sell homes in Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® needed a reliable and proactive way to find out about threats and respond to them quickly.

Solution

Before using Curate, the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS® relied on a network of members to keep the statewide staff informed about threats at the local government level, but they didn’t have members in every community, and often missed issues.

The association opted to take a more proactive approach to local government advocacy with local government monitoring tools from Curate.

Results

The association is now catching hundreds of issues per year across the 351 municipalities in Massachusetts and is able to engage its local members in advocacy efforts to protect homeowners and prospective buyers from costly new taxes and policies.

By staying more informed about local government issues, the association also finds more opportunities to build goodwill with communities, ultimately leading to better collaboration and better policy outcomes.
