Business Development Representative
Curate is a high growth technology startup located in downtown Madison. We were founded in May of 2016 by a PhD candidate in Computer Science out of UW Madison and an MBA from UW Whitewater. Curate’s software scans through public meeting agendas and minutes from cities, counties, and school board websites and sends our customers weekly reports of leads and business intelligence. Curate's customers utilize this information to grow their businesses.
Curate offers a fun and flexible work environment. We believe in working hard and having fun together. We have an office dog, a great location downtown, and plenty of opportunities to work in many different areas of the business if you are interested. Our ideal candidate has an interest in entrepreneurship and/or business (but not required). We are more than willing to train for the right candidate. We also offer full health benefits, 401k matching, and unlimited paid time off.
What we’ll do for you:
We are looking for people who want to expand their skills and work with a fast-paced talented group of forward thinkers. From your first day you will be a member of our team, working with us and not for us. Our goal is to help you achieve your professional goals and develop your skills to make that happen.
What you’ll do:
As the Business Development Representative, you’ll be responsible for bringing in potential customers to showcase how Curate can improve their existing processes and procedures. You’re comfortable talking to lots of people and you enjoy finding creative ways to reach out to potential customers. You’ll make a couple hundred phone calls a week to potential customers with the goal of setting a virtual meeting/software demo.
You enjoy connecting with people through the phone, email, and LinkedIn. Being creative in getting an answer comes naturally to you. You also have a keen attention to detail, and understand the balance between speed and accuracy. In addition, you have excellent written communication skills as we frequently work remotely and communicate through writing. You don’t need any experience in software or sales as we’ll train you to be an expert in this field - but previous sales experience is definitely a plus. Technical skills are important, but we value a cultural fit above all else. We’re looking for a team member with a strong work ethic who thrives in a fast paced and fun environment.
